Sr. Jacinta Habiba Dagbaaboro, superior of the religious congregation of Our Lady of Peace based in Tombura while talking to Rurugene Online News in Yambio expressed sadness at the suffering of innocent people in Tombura due to the ongoing tribal conflicts in the county, which she described as dangerous.

She said that their congregation has also been affected as they had to send home two Postulants and five Aspirants who were undergoing formation to become Religious Sisters. This they did out of fear of being attacked, something that has become very common in Tombura.

Sr. Jacinta told Rurugene online news that soon after they sent the formation students home, she and one novice managed to escape through the bushes and cover72.8 kilometers on foot to reach Ezo County where they managed to get transport to Yambio where the diocesan Curia.

The single novice, Sr. Gamboripai Hellen Nicholas who already prepared for Sisterhood was on September 12, 2021, professed during the 7th-Anniversary of the Late Titarani Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite.

Sr. Jacinta expressed that the students who were in the formation house will be able to return once the conflict in Tombura has subsided and the situation becomes conducive for all of them to return. She calls upon both National and State civil authorities of South Sudan to show leadership by undertaking necessary measures to end the armed conflict in greater Tombura and other parts of South Sudan so that citizens can go back to their normal life activities. At the same time, she invites all from the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, in Western Equatoria State and South Sudan countrywide to build their faith in God and work for the South Sudan they long for.

The Community of these Religious Sisters was formally initiated by the Comboni Missionaries in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio by Bishop Dominic Felerah in 1956 before the Sudan Government then expelled Catholic Missionaries in 1964. Sr. Jacinta Habiba Dagbaaboro professed as Religious Sister in 1964 eight months before the missionaries were expelled.
