Construction of Five Church Houses Underway at Holy Cross Central West Deanery

Driven by the desire to have decent places of worship and also the need to have church houses which they can be proud of, Christians from different prayer centers and chapels under Nakindo Sene Parish have taken the initiative to spearhead the construct of Church houses in five different areas.

The constructions which are currently underway are purely initiated by the people who are passionately driven to construct concrete worship houses without looking for external support. They are using readily available material and only buys what they cannot get from their locality.

The constructions are being done by Christians from St. Daniel Comboni Mborizanga Centre far east of Nzara, Nasikisa Centre east-west of Nzara, St. Paul the Apostle Nugadi Centre into the west of Nzara, St. John the Apostle Nazireagbe Centre West-North and St. Daniel Comboni Tindoka chapel at the suburb of Nzara town.

The Catholic faithful from these places have opted to follow the diocesan theme: we are a family of God’s people, a participatory servant church, and this is what is guiding their construction activities. The theme mandates them to fully participate in church activities through coordination and collaboration with the priests who are assigned to work in their parishes.

In his recent visit to the construction sites where he was accompanied by priests, journalists, Humekodabe/Kodabera and Catechists, the Catholic Bishop of Tombura-Yambio, Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, expressed his delight and appreciation to the Christians for taking the initiative to construct decent structures for their places of worship. He said that his reason for visiting them was to encourage them and give them hope.

He expressed that it was very important to him to create time and join in prayers and actions faithful from various parts of his diocese who are working hard to ensure the growth and development of their local church. The bishop encouraged the Christians during his visit to be at the forefront in doing what is good for each one of them and for the church.

He commended the young people and women whom he found working at the sites telling them that they are tasked by their faith to constantly do good things at their own level.

Bishop Hiiboro declared the year 2021 as a year of work for the construction of church houses, parish houses, schools and health facilities. Currently, there are a number of such constructions going on in the various parts of the diocese.
