Over 700 Candidates Received the Sacrament of Confirmation during Bishop Eduardo Pastoral Visit to Mid – West Deanery

Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala paid a pastoral visit to Mid – West Deanery in Ezo County from 16th – 18th September 2022, over 700 candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation in different Masses presided over by His Lordship.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is the Second of the three Sacrament of Christian initiations. Confirmation completes Baptism by which in the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism oil. Confirmation is a Sacrament in the Catholic Church in which the one who is confirmed (confirmandi) receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit through the imposition of hand and anointing with oils by the bishop. It’s considered a sacrament of initiation which means that it brings you deeper into communion with the Church.

In St. Mary Catholic Church Baragu, the local ordinary of CDTY confirmed 100 candidates, in Holy Trinity Andari Parish, 94 candidates were confirmed, 96 candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation in Naandi while in Diabio, the Bishop Confirmed 96 candidates.

In his Homily, the Bishop reminded the candidates that they are the new source of Evangelization in their area and the new seed of faith in Catholic Church. He encouraged them to be proud of being a member of Christ Body and never fear of speaking of their faith wherever they are since they are missionaries to their brothers and sisters adding that they are the members of the Church.

Bishop Eduardo also encouraged the Christians to renew their Baptismal promises, to continue to be missionaries of Christ wherever they are, be good witnesses of Christ and to make their Parishes vibrant with faith.
